A Christmas book we are reading…..

My boys love to be read a story; there’s something about making it to the end of a busy day,   getting cosy, having cuddle’s and reading a bedtime story.
I don’t know about anyone else’s children but my boys get obsessed with one particular book which then needs to be read over and over again until I no longer need to read what it says as I know it off by heart page for page, word for word. We have read Elmer the Patchwork Elephant, The Gruffalo, Funnybones, Monkey Puzzle and that is only naming a few.
Being only a few weeks away from Christmas I wanted to read them a more Christmassy book and came across
Santa’s Sleigh is on its way to London written by Eric James and illustrated by Robert Dunn.

The book is beautifully written and tells a story of how one child can’t fall asleep on Christmas Eve and the trouble Santa goes to when things don’t go exactly to plan, making sure he isn’t seen and the present’s get left under the tree. The really nice thing about the book is how it mentions quite a few different places across London, so if you are familiar with London and the areas as we are, the boys really enjoyed how familiar it was and kept on saying ‘we’ve been there’.
Not only is the book beautifully written it also has the most gorgeous illustrations with bright colours and bold drawings making my children fascinated and excited for each page turn.

With only 2 weeks left until Christmas Eve this is defiantly a book that we are enjoying reading and we are going to enjoy every year on the lead up to Christmas.

Santa’s sleigh is on its way to…………. is also available for different cities and towns in the U.K  including Sheffield, Hull, Cheltenham, Blackpool, Birmingham, Glasgow and Southampton to name a few places and is a perfect book to read on the lead up to Christmas or as a Christmas Eve gift.
I have found WhSmiths online have the biggest selection of different places in the U.K but also amazon do stock a few also.

Thanks for reading and Merry Christmas x

Really lovely to find a book that can include familiar places to children and bring reading to life for them.
